GRANDMOTHER OUT FOR A WALK WITH HER GRANDSON – x 3,5 cm
Acrylic and oil on canvas Part of the DIVINAS DEL SUR series. All the works capture moments of everyday life that the artist observes in southern Spain. True to the style of this series, the artist interprets a moment of daily street life, with details from the 1950s. Like all the works in this series, this canvas has a deep stretcher, and the artist continues the painting onto all four edges.

SEAMSTRESS IN A ROOM WITH LAS MENINAS – x 3,5 cm
Acrylic and oil on canvas Part of the DIVINAS DEL SUR series. All the works capture moments of everyday life that the artist observes in southern Spain. However well centred the seamstress is in this work, the viewer is almost compelled to pay even more attention to a detailed, light-hearted interpretation of Diego Velázquez's famous canvas “LAS MENINAS”. Like all the works in this series, this canvas has a deep stretcher, and the artist continues the painting onto all four edges.

VINTAGE LADY GOLFER
Acrylic on canvas This golf scene strikes a fine balance between the motif of a woman golfer, dressed in 1930s style, and a fragmented, multicoloured background. The artist's signature is integrated into it and forms part of the fragmented background. The work is the companion piece to “VINTAGE GENTLEMAN GOLFER”. A wide, solid-wood moulding in titanium white frames the work.

SHOPPING IN SANLÚCAR – x 3,5 cm
Acrylic and oil on canvas Part of the DIVINAS DEL SUR series. All the works capture moments of everyday life that the artist observes in southern Spain. A brilliant interpretation of one of the most typical small-town postcard scenes: a carefree lady, in comfortable clothes and without the compulsory helmet, on her way back from shopping at the food market, her plentiful shopping hanging from every part of her old motorbike. Like all the works in this series, this canvas has a deep stretcher, and the artist continues the painting onto all four edges.

THE GOSSIP – x 3,5 cm
Acrylic and oil on canvas Part of the DIVINAS DEL SUR series. All the works capture moments of everyday life that the artist observes in southern Spain. A delightful interpretation of a café scene. Two ladies in lively conversation, each with her own very pop style. The floor of large square tiles accentuates the perspective of this work, whose height and width are identical. Like all the works in this series, this canvas has a deep stretcher, and the artist continues the painting onto all four edges.

FLAMENCO DANCER – x 3,5 cm
Acrylic and oil on canvas Part of the DIVINAS DEL SUR series. All the works capture moments of everyday life that the artist observes in southern Spain. A flamenco dancer whose proportions and movements are exaggerated in just the right measure to render a motif as clichéd as flamenco in a surprising way. The work deliberately walks the line between poster and logo. Like all the works in this series, this canvas has a deep stretcher, and the artist continues the painting onto all four edges.

WOMAN GOLFER – x 3,5 cm
Acrylic on canvas Part of the DIVINAS DEL SUR series. All the works capture moments of everyday life that the artist observes in southern Spain. An attractive woman golfer in mid-swing, in a landscape with a naïve touch. A typical image of the South. Like all the works in this series, this canvas has a deep stretcher, and the artist continues the painting onto all four edges.

JOSEPHINE BANANA DANCING
Acrylic on canvas Companion piece to “LADY PAPAGENA”. On a yellowish background applied with a palette knife, the painter renders the outline of Josephine Baker, dancing in nothing but a mini skirt of bananas. Nothing more is needed to fire the imagination.

JUST HAPPY
Acrylic on canvas Inspired by a scene on the nearby beaches of Costa Ballena, Uta painted this canvas life-size. The lady is completely unperturbed, lost in thought, enjoying her happiness, with carefree movements and a soft smile: a perfect combination of expression, movement and accessories of a woman who is simply happy. An old hat lets through too many rays of sunshine – another fact that does not seem to affect the mood of this carefree beachgoer – and so allows a striking play of light and shadow.

LADY PAPAGENA
Acrylic on canvas Companion piece to “JOSEPHINE BANANA DANCING”. The painter works on a yellowish background applied with a palette knife. Papagena, a main character of the famous opera The Magic Flute, appears drawn in a single blue line, in strong colours.

WOMAN AT THE BEACH
Acrylic and coloured pencil on paper A fluid red line on paper depicts a lady in a bikini, seen from behind. Her only accessory is a charming parasol.

CHEERFUL SHEPHERDESS
Acrylic on canvas Created in 2001, it belongs to a series of small-format works sharing the same style, for example “LAUNDRY ON THE LINE”, “DOG AND SUNFLOWER” or “LADY IN A COLOURFUL DRESS”. It shows a striking balance between abstraction and naïve drawing, executed in a single line ending in the signature. The very uneven, highly detailed colouring completes a small decorative work of great artistic value.

2020 - BEACHGOER sketch for JUST HAPPY
Acrylic on canvas For the canvas “JUST HAPPY”, Uta Geub painted this work, which testifies to her great powers of observation. It starts from a sketch of the carefree beachgoer, with somewhat rough yet relaxed features, a certain masculinity and proportions suggesting a sturdy build. The cheap old hat underlines the marked nonchalance of the woman portrayed.

QUEEN
Acrylic on canvas The photograph illustrating the report “Vestida de sol con la luna pedestal” by journalist Francisco Correal, a friend of the artist, on the solemn coronation of the Virgen de la Salud of the Hermandad de San Gonzalo, served as the model for this work. A range of strong colours, down to black on one side and pastel and gold tones on the other, shows that this work demands attention. A dramatic moment: the crown is merely hinted at and yet draws all the attention. The angelic face of the Virgin, a flawless, eternal beauty carved in wood. The solemnity of the moment is translated into an aura of dark, geometric tones, without any symmetry, its vanishing point at the centre of the energy.

LAUNDRY ON THE LINE
Acrylic on canvas Created in 2001, it belongs to a series of small-format works sharing the same style, for example “CHEERFUL SHEPHERDESS” or “LADY IN A COLOURFUL DRESS”. A washerwoman who seems pleased with her finished laundry hanging on the line. An everyday moment taken into the realm of abstraction, a feature it also shares with the canvas “DOG AND SUNFLOWER”. A gold moulding with gold leaf frames this canvas.

LADY IN A TURTLENECK (PORTRAIT OF CHARLOTTE SCHÄCHTER)
Acrylic on canvas An early portrait in a single line. The colours applied underline Mrs Schächter's strong personality. Despite the high degree of abstraction of this work, the artist has achieved a lively, ever-present gaze in the woman portrayed.

LADY IN A COLOURFUL DRESS
Acrylic on canvas Despite the degree of abstraction of this work, the lady in a hat with multiple wide brims is another example of light-heartedness and colour. Created in 2009, it belongs to a series of small-format works sharing the same style, for example “LAUNDRY ON THE LINE” or “CHEERFUL SHEPHERDESS”. A two-tone wooden frame underlines the purple tones of this work.

SHOPPING DAY
Acrylic on paper A single brown line sketches a lady with numerous boutique bags, extravagantly dressed and wearing red high heels.

2018 – SONNENANBETERIN
Acrylic on canvas An elderly lady with an all-conquering self-confidence. Her gaze is fixed on the viewer, despite completely dark sunglasses. The woman carries only the bare essentials for her trip to the beach, just across the street from her flat: her dog, an Andalusian Bodeguero, old but very alert, and her beach chair of translucent orange fabric. The background of this work is the main avenue of the Bonanza district of Sanlúcar de Barrameda.
